Most lounge chairs are designed to be looked at. HALDEN started with a different measurement: the average time a person sits before reaching for their phone. We wanted to double it.
The answer wasn't more padding. It was suspension — leather straps under the cushion that move with you — and a back angle of exactly 104°.
The brief: Comfort is a form of attention.
We drew people, not chairs. Two hundred posture studies before a single line of furniture.

In our tests, 104° was the recline at which people stopped checking their phones. We didn't round it.
